I have recently got a IBM Thinkpad360CE that my cousin was junking, and I thought it would be great to run dsl on well once I got I found out that some of the drivers where messed up and the external cd drive(scsi) won't work, So I am wondering if there is a way possible to install dsl (poorman's install) to the laptop since I have no way of transfering the knoppix directory to the laptop (I am trying to transfer the knoppix directory that's on my desktop PC to the laptop) I would send the knoppix file to myself (through email but I can't get the laptop to connect to the internet because the laptop is running windows 3.1. Any help would be appericiated.

Hmm...

You can manually copy the file over to your C:\ drive while using the external CDROM and Windows 3.1 file manager.

Or you could download tom's root boot floppy linux and use the frugal lite install script on the DSL web site.

Search the forums for more details.

The external cd thing was my first idea but of course there's a problem with it- The laptop has a virus that messed up the scsi drivers and I can't get it reconize the drive at all, and do you have a link to the tom's root boot floppy linux cuz I can't seem to find it at the dsl site.

There is a lot of forum advice on this dilemma.  Some people take the notebook hard drive out and put in another machine which can read from DSL CD.  After copying the ISO directories and files to the drive, it is replaced in the proper notebook where DSL can be booted up of the C:\ drive using a boot floppy.  It behaves like a 'live' CD boot after that.
I had the same problem as you, in my case, an absolutely wiped hard disc with nothing but the command.com files.
The external CD drive I used came with a floppy boot disc which activates the drive allowing me to copy DSL ISO onto the C:\ drive etc.   Good luck.

Well I have finally gotten the file onto the laptops hard drive by using WinRAR and unRAR for DOS, But now I'm having the problem of not having enought ram to run linux, If anyone can recommend a linux distro that will work with 8MB of Ram (maybe an older version of dsl?) If anyone could recommend one that'd be great.
