OK first of all, im a new to linux.  Im trying to boot on my laptop that has no hard drive.  It has 256mb of RAM and i do fine booting and getting into all the loading.  However when it gets to the lines:

Using Xvesa default 1024x768x32 -mouse "/dev/psaux",5 mouse
xauth: creating new authority file /home/dsl/.Xauthority
xauth: creating new authority file /home/dsl/.Xauthority

then it just sits there.... does NOTHING....
PLease help me, i have done as much as i can, again i DO NOT have an HD in this laptop.

No hard drive !?

YEA !!

other forms of storage, like USBkeys, or CF cards,
will do fine for backups, settings, etc..

Your running DSL the way it was designed to be run..

Try to boot up DSL using these commands at the boot: prompt, if possible.

" dsl dma toram "  .. this will give you the best performance from DSL ..

If your xsetup fails to get you into X, with the error messages about Xauthority,
first try a different setting in your xsetup.

At the dsl@box prompt, ( which you default to after the errors )
type this..

xsetup.sh

you should be given choices for resolution, and mousey type..

Pick Xvesa
Pick your correct mouse type, USB or IMPS/PS2
( imps = a ps/2 scroll mouse )
Pick your resolution, try a lower number, like 800x600
16 bit is fine.
Select kybd language, and you should return to the dsl@box prompt.

Now, type

"startx"

and see if you get the desktop, or the errors again.

Another option if errors still occur

Reboot, and at the boot: prompt, type

" fb800x600 dma toram "
( or fb1024x768 IF you know your laptop supports it )

You should go into the xsetup automatically,
this time, choose xfbdev , and not xvesa ..
For the rest of the questions , use the same answers as before

Hopefully, one of these methods will get you into the desktop..

With 256 MB ram, your laptop should perform nicely in the "toram" mode.
What else does your laptop have? wireless? pcmcia network card? modem?

Let us know..
[ and anyone with "trek" in their sig gets a +1 points from me. :) ]
[ and the PLz GOD HELP ME you wrote?   Is that OZZY ?   ]
