I just burnt my first myDSL CD remaster, with a few of my favorite extensions.
I got tricked by the last questions (what is the address of your CD burner ????), so the CD burning part failed, but since I had the iso made, I burned my CD with Mandrake/K3B.
It was great to get my custom DSL setup!

There is one thing I tried, but couldn't get: If I want to add custom commands in the /home/dsl/.fluxbox/menu file, how do I do it?
How do I modify the menu file before it is included in the iso?

I tried to modify the menu used by DSL  (the one in /ramdisk/home/dsl if that makes sense) but the remaster used the one in the CD (the original iso I downloaded). Now that I think of it, I would add more customisations, like screen size, mouse type, firefox settings ... if those settings present in the ramdisk would be those used for the remaster, instead of those in the original CD.

I like the myDSL CD a lot, and I think I will be using that option from now on. Having my custom settings would be even greater.
Is there an option I missed on how to do this?

Thanks for this great distro. It is getting better and better.

The fluxbox menu is originally stored inside the KNOPPIX file (/etc/skel/.fluxbox/menu)...if you want to edit it directly you will need to rebuild not only the ISO, but also rebuild KNOPPIX.

The easiest way to modify the menu without a full remaster is to use backup/restore to save your modified menu file.  This presents a problem, however, with extensions that are auto-loaded. Your mydsl menu will not display them, since the custom menu overwrites the default menu after the extensions are loaded.  In order to prevent this, you would need to rename the backup to ensure that it is the very first extension loaded (they are loaded alphabetically, so if it were named 000000.tar.gz it should be fine).

The process would be something like this:
1) Make your menu changes (and remove the mydsl submenu if it exists).
2) Copy your .filetool.lst file to a new name.
3) Edit the original .filetool.lst to include only "home/dsl/.fluxbox/menu".
4) Set your backup partition.
5) Make a backup.
6) Rename the backup to 000000.tar.gz and put it with any auto-loaded mydsl apps you may have.
7) Replace .filetool.lst with the original one.
8) Reset your backup partition if necessary.
