Here I am, playing with my USB stick running DSL 2.1b embedded on top of Ubuntu Breezy Badger.  Damn fine...

However, the right side of the screen that tipically shows cpu, ram, processes, etc. is missing :(

How do I make that appear?  I have already refreshed the desktop, rebooted, etc.  Any little trick that someone can share with me?

May need to check your .xinitrc with the one in /etc/skel.
Probably missing the call for torsmo. You can copy the one from /etc/skel

Oh brother...

I was able to open the .xinitrc file at the /etc/skel directory using vi and in fact I don't see any calls for torsmo.  [I am still finding my way around with the USB stick that I purchased from you guys...]

I couldn't understand what is it that you are recommending me: Should I edit this configuration file to add a line calling for torsmo?

How can I do this?  The file is read-only and I  :(  don't know how to become root with dsl :(  Once I learn this and I know which line to add to this configuration file it will be easy... Will the changes be saved on the stick?

Can I see a sample file for .xinitrc for version 2.1b of dsl please?

You don't need to be root.
You don't need vi

As regular user dsl open an xshell and at the prompt
$  cp /etc/skel/.xinitrc .

It worked!  Thanks!  :D

I tried to connect to the Internet with dsl running embedded :)  It didn't work but at least I understand the principle of using dial up with a external modem...
