Downloaded and burned a nice fresh 2.2b image to CD. Booted off the CD without a hitch, as always. Perfomed a pendrive USB install, When I boot off the pendrive Autoconfigure progress bar goes all the way to the right side of the screen and then eventually the screen fills with errors to the effect of :

Error reading... ELF section headers
and
cp reading  \KNOPPIX\OPT  : Input/Output error

I've tried formatting the USB and letting it repartition etc with the same outcome everytime.
Booted using the 2.1 version created a USB pendrive install and booted off it without any problems.

Created an iso of the 2.2b CD and its MD5 matches the MD5 on download page.

Something isn't quite right.

Does it give this error on all computer systems, or just your specific computer system?

Right now just one Dell D800 laptop.  I will test on Monday on other manufacturers and systems. I would include the errors however they fill up the screen and I'm not aware of a way to capture them to text and automagically store them on the USB drive.

I'll post on Monday the result of my findings.

FYI,

DSL version 2.1b contains a newer version of the linux kernel than is contained inside 2.2b

So it might be possible that 2.1b is the better solution for your needs until

DSL, the Next Generation (2.6 kernel)

is released.

Just tried 2.2 and 2.2b, burnt CD's, both boot fine on desktop.
Created USB pendrive that previously ran 2.1 for laptop. Neither will run. No error during Pendrive or CD creation.

Error says essentially can't find /lib files for modpobe---lots of errors then boots up. Orinoco card in PCMCIA slot is not seen,
IWCONFIG says nothing there. Control panel PCMCIA "utility" shows nothing plugged in slot since no software to "size" or access it.

Went through this enough times trying different things, something is missing from this upgrade to 2.2.

I booted the desktop also using a boot floppy and the pendrive, similar problem--no lib files, can't probe the hardware,
can't find eth0. Both of these machines always worked before on the pendrives---version 2.1, 2.0, etc. :D

Sounds like a classic case of mismatched minirt24.gz and knoppix image.
Do a clean install to the pendrive, don't copy over parts of the system,
Major differences in modules from 1.5 to 2.0, 2.1, to 2.2.
Modules in minirt24.gz must match the kernel inside the knoppix image. Otherwise lots of boot time error messages and most things will not work!
