Hi,

I tried a dozen Live CDs of which ten have a GUI and only one
that i can use on my main computer:  Damn Small Linux (DSL)!

I don't have much to say about it yet since i've spent most of
my time over trying to force 800x600x16 @56.25 Hz resolution
but i don't despair.  I enter "dsl vga=788 vsync=56.25" but this
gets me to one of my choices where VESA is 1024x768x32 and
the other leads to an error about mister Mud or something - i'll
bet that's Harry, Harry Mud (Trekkie reference), euh...  Thanks
for trying so hard anyway!  I was quite impressed and specially
when i started DownLoading stuff which worked right at once!

:)

If you are using a VESA graphics mode, you will be unable to run at anything other than the VESA 2.0 standard refresh rate, IE: 60Hz

However, you can always install the XFree86.dsl extension and configure it for your video card and desired refresh rate.
