What the hell are you running? What version? 0.6.3? Are you running from the CD or a hdinstall? If you knew you were gonna need the driver, why didn't you pre-compile before you installed (that's ing hilarious)?

Try doing a search for the word 'make', this topic is all over the forum. Being a 50MB live CD DSL doesn't have room for make and gcc, however they can be added via apt-get.

Hey Eric, sorry about the angst back there. If you're running the newest version of Damn Small (0.6.3) it gives you the option to install all of the GNU utils when you hdinstall. I believe it's the `Enhanced' option. If you're running into problems with apt-get I wrote a little HOWTO: < Damn Small Apt Walkthrough, Using Apt with Damn Small Linux > Hope this helps Posted by gjhicks on April 24 2004,02:15
Hi,I am using a HD installed DSL. But, in this thread (and others) there are comments about various options/selections during the HD install, eg: the GNU utils in this thread. I must have screwed up, I didn't get any options/selections during the HD install. I used the HD install instructions in the /home/damnsmall/ folder. Is there another (better) way to do a HD install?? Regards, Geoff. |
