Well just set up my first dsl machine a little POS that i was using as a door stop and now it is a full blown (lan) web server. Set it up on a pent II 500mhz, 128mb ram and a 10gb hard drive. Been trying to load fedora core 4 on it but just didn't have enough space left over after os install to really do anything with it. But now thanks to dsl i have enough room to put my entire mp3 collection on there (yeeeeaaaaaa). You guys have packed a lot of good stuff in a very little package. Bravo, job well done, dsl rocks, its just a dawm good little OS. Wish it had java support but as small and as light as dsl is i can live with out it. Thank you thank you thank you

Java support is available as a .uci extension in the "myDSL" repository.< http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub....ci.info > Posted by AwPhuch on Mar. 20 2006,08:21

thanks for the heads up on the java support, fixin to go grab it and get it going, once again I would like to say thanks, I know have a mp3 server (on my lan) that is capable of local playback on a computer I was thinking of throwing in the trash heap. While I was ftping my mp3's to my new dsl box i was very impressed with the speed, while surfing the net i was very impressed with the speed, I did a HD install and i am very, very, very impressed with how quickly the system boots up especially on such old hardware. Most of my lan is built with mainly old hand me down equipment that i have managed to collect over the years. This software is EXACTLY what i was looking for. I really didn't want to use an older version of that OTHER os yea the one that costs you an arm and a leg to own.Quick question, are there any more dsl logo's other than the one that comes on the live cd. I would like to place the logo on my website to show visiters what is powering the server along with linking to your site. Keep up the good work guys, open source rocks Posted by AwPhuch on Mar. 20 2006,23:49
P.S. See if you can find the edna.dsl...now you can stream thru a browser to any machine on your lan...Build your very own mp3 jukebox!!!! P.S. I have this one..I dont remember where it came from Brian AwPhuch |
