Hi,

I am trying to do a livecd boot as described in computeractive magazine, although every time I boot the computer and select to start DS Linux, it does the hardware checks and then says that it is creating a hard drive partition. As I still want WindowsXP on my machine, and DSL as a test, I don't want it to be writing to my HDD. Does anyone have any suggestions?

As a liveCD, DSL won't write anything to the hard drive when you boot. What you're seeing is probably just DSL partitioning the RAM as a "Ramdisk" to load DSL into. All changes made to DSL will be lost when you reboot. Bottom Line, don't worry about WinXP, DSL won't make any changes.
