Hi,
I burned the DSL 2.3 and 2.4 RC boot CDs (ISO images) and tried to boot the system. Unfortunately both boots from CD failed with:

Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address 00000000 printing eip:
...
Code: Bad EIP value.
<0>Kernel panic: Attempted to kill init!

I have a Dell Latitude D610 laptop and 1.5 GB RAM (I intend to install the DSL on my USB flashdrive eventually). I tried to search the web and this forums for some kind of advice but did not find any that would help.

Just for fun, try this bootcode:

dsl mem=512M

and have "mem" be lowercase and "M" at the end be uppercase.

Might work.  Not sure, though.

Or try this bootcode:
dsl dma

You may also enter your BIOS and make sure that the PNP OS settings are turned on. If that doesnt' work, then temporarily turn off the onboard LAN adapter if you have one.

Thanks a lot for tips, unfortunately none of it worked.

I tried
dsl mem=512M
dsl dma
and other combinations.

I switched off LAN adapter and serial and parallel ports and other devices in BIOS but the boot still fails.

Is that freeze caused by kernel version? Could an older version of kernel work correctly?
