To my amazement I've had DSL lock up on me *twice* yesterday. The first time I left it running for a long time and the screen turned off (probably done by the BIOS, but I'm not sure). When I tried to resume by pressing a key or moving the mouse it didn't respond, it had frozen on me.

The second time the screen was also turned off but when I moved the mouse it resumed normally. I then tried to type some text into the Beaver text editor and it froze on me again, couldn't do Ctrl-F2 or Alt-F2 or Ctrl-Alt-Del, keyboard lights didn't respond so it was dead.

I've never had stabillity problems with Linux before. Anyone have a clue why this might be happening?

I'm using 2.1b or 2.2 (not sure which).

Sounds like a power management issue with your hardware and DSL. You may want to try some boot options to address that, or adjust your BIOS settings to avoid this.

You're right. I turned off APM in the BIOS and I haven't had a lockup since. :D
