Good time to everybody.

I have seen that the 2.3 DSL version is faster at boot time but I have noticed a problem with the 2.3 DSL version related to netcard configuration.

Both of my two computers, one with a mainboard Via Rhine II netcard and other with PCI Surecom EP-320X-R presented the same problem: The netcardconfig utility is not able to recognize any compatible netcard, so I could not connect to internet.

So I had to come back to the 2.0 version that I were using without problems of connexion.

Does anybody have noticed the same?

Hi

I seem to be having the same problem - I'm using an MSI k8N Neo2 Platinum mainboard with Realtek ethernet drivers.

Netcardconfig can't seem to connect to the web, and reports errors. (< See my post >)

Have you managed to resolve this problem yet?

Regards

Pat.

Pls, consider that I do not know how to use ndiswrapper. What is this for?

Where can I find more details?

Thanks

Hi

I've managed to get my internet connection up and running. You may like to see my other post at < http://damnsmalllinux.org/cgi-bin....t=13574 > to see if it can help you.

Good luck

Hi,

you have the possibility to check your connection in order to know if you can connect to your router or the Internet. For that, just use:

ifconfig

and/or

iwconfig

Both of the commands give you informations related to your connection, home network, and card. If your card has been recognized, you should have eth0 (maybe eth1 too) and lo. Then in the control panel, use the wlanconfig and netcardconfig utilities.

Wlanconfig: you can give parameters that suit your router and home network specifics (such as name of your network(ESSID) and encryption key(WEP) etc.).

Netcardconfig: it activates the connection for eth0 and/or eth1; for me it is eth0. My experience is that eth0 comes as the option which DSL automatically selects, and I don't have to change it. I just confirm with 'ok'.

Ndiswrapper: its a wonderful utility; I guess, it is now in the base .iso; if not, there is an extension in the appropriate repository. Basically, Ndiswrapper enables you to use a winxp driver for your wlan card. In order to make ndiswrapper work, you have to check the wiki or the forum. It is very easy to use. But I have to say, I tried to install a netgear WG511 v2.0 with ndiswrapper (not only in DSL) and I didn't success in it.

good luck!
