How do I get emelFM to workForum: User Feedback Topic: How do I get emelFM to work started by: greggh Posted by greggh on May 22 2006,01:02
I just downloaded and ran 2.4. Booted fine, detected my network, but EmelFM will not open. I double clicked it, right clicked it and selected superuser, but nothing. Anybody know what I need to do? Thanks.

Try running it in terminal and see what it says.

/usr/X11R6/bin/emelfm: line 2 : 1026 Bus error /usr/bin/X11/emelfm.binand each time I type emelfm at the promt I get the same error but the Bus error # keeps advancing by 2... 1028, 1030, 1032... Posted by mikshaw on May 22 2006,04:30
Have you installed anything? Are you short on ram? Do you get a bus error on other gtk apps, like firefox or gtkfind? This shouldn't happen, as far as I can tell, unless you made some damaging changes to your system or maybe if the installation failed at some point. The path to emelfm.bin looks unusual, but i can't see how that would be a problem since /usr/bin/X11 is (or should be) a link to /usr/X11R6/bin Posted by greggh on May 22 2006,04:37
No, I just downloaded it and burned a cd and ran it. Only played around with it a little bit. Tried firefox, was able to get to this forum, but when I tried to log in firefox would close. Didn't install any other apps or change the system, just a straight live boot off the cd. Maybe I'll try downloading it again from a different mirror and burning another cd. Oh, and I have plenty of RAM, 1.5 GIG.

you can check the md5 by opening a terminal, cd into the directory;md5sum dsl-2.4.iso 741782bfbd52dc3429c507d5de1f8c32 or it could be the cdrom or a bad burn ? |
