i was rather bummed today, when i got my CF card from your company to find it was empty....

I checked it against 2 windows workstations that would have picked up the files and it was flat out empty,

Slapped that card in two Different compaq ia-1's - got the same error message operating system missing.

Perhap's it got wiped during transport, like if they ran it through a metal detector or something else with a magnetic field. Any which way i'm sure you can send it back or do the frugal install yourself.

I format those disks myself fresh every order.  But it could be that your CF came from the wrong pile or, like Kerry said, could have been damaged in transport.  send it back to me and I'll send you another.

Can a Windows system recognize a Linux partition?

Nope, a winblows system can not see linux partions with out extra software.

A windows xp will show it as unknown partition in disk manager, however it will show you if there are more then one partitions on it.

well the thing is the one you send to me got stuck in my ia-1 appliance,,,but if you would format my 1GB card instead, that would be better.

Im seriously thinking the thing got damaged in transport...usually Windows should see the files themselves but it didn't see that much, i know it wouldn't have seen the partitions unless i had pulled up ranish ? i think the partitiona manager.

Get explore2fs for windows. It allows you to view ext2 partitions and actually copy those files to your windows partition.

IAN442, if you can't get it to work send me your 1G CF card and I'll format that for you.
