Does GTK comes defaultly with current version (2.4) of DSL or we need to seperately download gtk?

GTK2.0 needs to be downloaded from the mydsl repository.

Don't forget to ACTIVATE it after download.  It is listed in the MYDSL submenu on the DSL Main Menu (Right-click on an empty area of your desktop after the download is complete)

For great clarity (or confusion, depending on your point of view), yes, Gtk1.2 runtime is included with DSL.  Gtk2 and Gtk1.2 development files are not included.

I have been wrestling with a few mydsl extensions, saw this tip on activating GTK2, it helped get Nvu working. It would be useful to add this kind of information to the info page that displays when you select the extension you are considering installing, so the info would be right there.
