Received the CD from John today. Quite fast delivery. I miss the option to 'keep home dir files' so my personal files and settings don't get overwritten. An expert might do well partitioning his own disc, but what about us novices who need a little help? So... 'Keep Home' should be an option. Some marketing: How about a splash that outlined the changes in 3.0.1 ? I see the screensaver is on by default and works. Nice for my 233mHz labtop working as server. Also it seems to have stopped restarting the harddrive every few seconds. That'll make it live longer at give off less noise and heat. All in all a good improvement well worht the cd at USd 7.50. Still miss gnumeric, while Abiword can be post-installed. I give it a B. How about you? Posted by ^thehatsrule^ on July 14 2006,19:43
you could always add < http://damnsmalllinux.org/notes.html > at the startup with dillo, if that's what you meant Posted by roberts on July 14 2006,20:26
Persistent home option has not changed If what you are saying is a gui partitioning tool... Gparted is actually a tiny liveCD and I would recommend that for those not comfortable with the commands. DSL is primarily a nomadic live disto and as such is focus is not on installing and thus requiring the inclusion of such large GUI type tools. |
