After hd-installing dsl 0.6.2 I try naim/nicq but I found it some confusing so I tryed to install my old Knoppix IM: amsn, yahoo messenger and licqNo problem with yahoo messenger it works very well. But licq do not cause of broken dependences apt-get said but I found a nice subsitute: ickle is a good emulator of icq IM I have not found yet any subsitute of MSN Mess When I return home I'll try TuxMessenger if it don't work....... I've installed centericq but is an old version and msn and yahoo does not work at all Same for gaim and everybuddy If I only could install tcl/tk...I could make work amsn......from the tgz version...Well anyway is my 2nd day with dsl and I found it very challenging specially for me, an newbie in linux stuff Posted by TyphoonMentat on April 14 2004,17:05
Surely you can just do an "apt-get install amsn" and tcl/tk will be installed automatically?

I'm afraid not, sir, It was the first thing I done, just when finish hard-drive installing and then I tryed to install tcl tk and tcl needs another and tk needs another... and so... But I'll find the way! Posted by libretto on April 14 2004,23:17
Hi there, I had the same problem. There have been some suggestions for other chat programs that support things like MSN. One I suggested was Gaim, but you'll need to get the latest version, as the straight apt-get version doesnt have MSn support. Have a look round the message board for more suggestions. Hope this helps.

Did you read the < Damn Small Apt Walkthrough, Using Apt with Damn Small Linux >? Read through it and then go back and try to install amsn. I think you don't have apt set up correctly to install the apps you want. Tcl/tk should install no problem. Posted by guille on April 15 2004,12:31
I don't know really what happens but suddently......amsn begans work!!!!!! It still refuse to install it using apt-get but when I type amsn in the console........woks!!!!!! I've read what you said,Grim I suppose I install correctly apt-get with dpkg-restore and then I've used www.apt-get.org page for searching speciffical repositories for stuff I wanted to install. In some cases it works ok, and some others do not, but amsn's case is a very strange thing I think Next week-end I'll reinstall all, reformat dsl particion and reinstal slowly every thing I need, so I can see what is happening!
