I have used cdrecord with the "-multi" flag, and still I can't save the session to "cdrom", I get can't write to read-only device.. I suppose I need to have the cdrom mounted as read-write, whats the easiest way to do this, and have it (the mount read-write)  automated?

You can't mount the burned session of the cd read/write, and as far as I know you can't write to a cd that is being used. You'll need to use the "dsl toram" boot option to copy KNOPPIX into memory and run from there.  If i'm wrong...ehh...just ignore this. =o)

The other thing you can do is save your session to a hard drive or USB key, and then make a remaster of the CD.  After it has copied the system files, you can add your backup.tar.gz file to the mix, and it should load it automatically when booting from that disc.  If it doesn't, you can just add restore=cdrom to your boot cheatcodes.

Been using that trick for a few months, works great!  Except when I need to make a change though.
