I'm a linux newb, definately.  And I've tried several linux distros.  And while I DO understand that linux requires a LOT of tweaking to work right, something has usually always gone wrong with my other distro installations, and I've become frustrated and always moaned "Screw linux."

Somone posted about DSL on a message board, so I gave it a shot.  PERFECT!  JUST the thing I needed to start my journey into the linux world.  I've tried it on my desktop.  beautiful.  On my laptop...wonderful.  I'm VERY happy and impressed.

The only thing i'm still trying to figure out on DSL is how to compile/install from source.  I understand there's apt-get, but doesn't that just use .dev files?  i have some apps i wanna install that i can only get the source on.  i need gcc, but don't know how to start getting that EITHER on here.  Any suggestions? TIA!  :D

Anyway, john, this is great man.  Thank you.  You DEFINATELY will be receiving a donation from me!
