Hello people!!

Just wanted to write up yet another DSL success story.

Im a Internetworking Diploma student at TAFE (College) in Sydney,Australia..

I tried Knoppix its self befor dsl and found that its was a little (heaps) too much. clutered with usless crap and who ever thought "ohhh, lets boot KDE by defualt!!!" ????

Any way, DSL is great and will help me have the fastest and easiest means of running ("GUI") linux on the public (windows) computers at TAFE.  With help from my usb drive :)

Thank you again! and consider your self +1 more dedicated user :)

Hi,

I am trying al thel small distribs i can get, and i am looking for a small, fast yet useful distrib to boot on my usb key.

DSL is good BUT i cannot use it because of the screen flickering (60 hz on a 19" is definitly NOT useable ..)

I couldn't found anyway to change the refresh rate, so i suppose it cannot be done. Too bad, knoppix can set the vsync so easilly ..

So, is there *any* way to change the x server easilly / or with some hacking ??

Hey Jeremy,

Sure you can (as far as i know) press f2 at the boot prompt, I recall seeing it in there.

I have a 19" videocom monitor and only sometimes notice that the 60hz rate isnt enough.

But then again I mainly use DSL at college and they have crapy 15" screens.

Hmm, if you are referring to cheatcodes, the vsync command doens't work because of xvesa (and xfbdev doesn't work with my GF4, but i think it wouldn't solve the problem).
