Hi,

I got a few Acer Travelmate 4500 for testing.
TravelMate 4501WLMi and 4502WLMi.
On both of those I can not get the onboard Broadcom BCM4401 NIC working.

lspci gets me:
0000:02:02.2 Ethernet controller: Broadcom Corporation DCM4401 100Base-T (rev 01)

compiling the b44 module by hand from the sources does not help as well (I do not remember if it gives me the same error or just does not work).

With the stock DSL 3.2 and 3.3RC1 the following happens.
During "Autoconfiguring Devices" in bootup I get the following output:

--snip--
modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module block-major-2
modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module block-major-2
Done.
--snip--

The next lines are interesting:

--snip--

with DSL-N 01RC4 and KNOPPIX 5.0.1 the interface works.

any help with this would be great.
