Howdy from Tucson,Rebuilt the backup pc with cheap MB and generics. It's sort of a testbed for family workhorse pcs. Picked a pci WMP55AG card in hopes of oob easy wireless. Trouble with Knoppix 5.1.1, trouble with Backtrack2, FC6 looks really tough. Win 95 worked with driver disk supplied. DSL 3.2 worked OOB! Used wlanconfig script from DSL Panel, pasted auto created myiwconfig link into bootlocal.sh. Added pump -i ath0 to bootlocal.sh and saved the configuration to hda1. Now all I need do is pop in DSL cd and it boots up with a working wireless to my router. This is what bread and butter compuing with linux needed. Many thanks to the DSL team! Mort |
