I d/l DSL about two weeks ago and I have been struggling ever since. It seems I may have an old version. Nothing works the way it should: DSLPanel should have a link to GnuUtils, not there; there should be a link to Prism2, not there. What version do I have? Hard to find out but during startup I see '2.78 Knoppix booting' and uname -a says
Linux box 2.4.22-xfs #1 SMP Fr Sep 19 17:55:45 CEST 2003 i686 Gnu/Linux'
which might mean something. On the CD I have a file info.html that says Welcome to Damn Small Linux and a Folder Knoppix dated 2004. The contents of this folder are also dated 2004.
When I acquired DSL I was offered a choice of mirrors. I have forgotten which one I chose but I just had a look at the LinuxQuestions mirror and the most recent version of dsl is 0.9.3 dated 2004. Did you know the mirrors carry such ancient material? I need a small Linux but it need not be that small so I am off to install DSL-N. Version RC4.
Good luck with the DSL project which looks really worthwhile.

Click on MyDSL and then System Stats. It'll tell you which version you are running. Latest is 3.3.

Under release notes it would appear that you would be running DSL v0.6x-0.7x

For mirrors see damnsmalllinux.org > download

Amazing that someone would load up such an old version of DSL.

I made many versions of DSL during 2004. In fact, it was Jan 15, 2004 that I began to create every version of DSL. I published v0.5.3.1 on that date.. I upgraded the kernel from 2.4.20 to 2.4.22 in v 0.6 and I added the version number in the Dillo startup page in v0.7.2. All of which were during 2004. Too many improvements to list from when I started maintaining and publishing each version DSL

My guess is that he found a v0.6.

Yes it may be amazing. All I did, IIRC, is go to a likely-looking mirror and follow the prompts, which got me an image which I burned to a CD. But as I said in the original post some of the mirrors are not kept up to date. If you like I could try to find out which mirror it was. A modern version of DSL would probably do what I want but I went off in a huff and got DSL-N which will also do what I want.

Well, the linuxquestions mirror seems to be listed under "Other sites..." instead of "Current Full..."

Personally, I just use the ibiblio mirror though.
