As a follow up to the exchange that unfornately tuned quite negative:There is always two ways to look at things, from a negative, flame-baiting to a factual, neutral to positive, presentation. I am sorry, if my actions offended anyone, but my interest and intent is to see that information concerning DSL is not presented wholly as negatives. Being small factually implies that not all features can be attainable. As an old saying goes, "A 50lb sack of potatoes can only only 50lbs" Not 100 lbs, not 600lbs, not more. The handling of the items recently brought up, could have been easily address in the FAQ. Doing such, is not negative, nor implies fault, or "improperly programmed". Nor does it require a new Wiki section with negative connotation of known or outstanding issues. Example FAQ additions: Q: Why doesn't my numlock light illuminate? A: DSL uses TinyX Windows. TinyX does not support that feature. However the numeric keypad does function as normal. If the illumination is of paramount importance, you have the option to use one of the full X-window servers located in the repository. Q: Why is ACPI is not fully functional on my laptop? A: DSL uses APM as the default. Most of the machines that are the target of DSL use and support APM. To use ACPI you must include a boot code of acpi together with noapm or apm=off. However, many BIOS circa 1999 are partial implementations of the ACPI standard. Such BIOSs are called "buggy BIOS". If your BIOS is not fully functional then you can try the boot option acpi=force. Not all "buggy bios" can be suported, caution, such machines may overheat. Most newer machines do fully support the ACPI standard. Q: Does DSL fully support 100% mouseless operation? A: No. Many of the eclectic applications present in DSL were chose for size and features. Not all support this. This is also true of widget tool used for our custom applications. For best results in the graphical desktop a mouse or other pointing device is required.
