I'm trying to boot from a DSL 4.2.3 CD on an *old* Siemens notebook 510 AGP (128 MB RAM).
Right after the "Soundcard ..." message the system "hangs".  Apparently it tries to access the floppy disk drive (the little LCD status display is showing a floppy disk icon then). The FDD is not installed because this laptop has a single slot where a CD *or* FD drive can be installed.
Tried the "failsafe" cheat code - same result.

Does anybody have an idea how to get DSL booting from CD on this machine?

BTW: Same result when using DSL 3.x - other OS CDs are booting perfectly.

Turn off floppy in bios?

Tried that - and also several BIOS options for so called "Plug&Play" OSes - still the same problem. :(

Add "debug" to the line, and see if the kernel messages give a clue. You can scroll with shift-pgUp

Added "debug". Machine still freezes at the same point.
Cannot scroll up then (looks like everything is locked up). :(
