This may be a dumb question, but...
I notice 4 types of DSL listed in
< http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub....rst.txt >
(iso, syslinux, embedded, and vmx.)

But in the file listing, I see 5 types, the fifth type being initrd.
What does that one do?

BTW, DSL = COOL!
It has my 1998 computer running firefox2, which
I doubt I could have done without DSL

initrd always loads to ram, it's useful for booting from network.

Ok... but I thought initrd loaded to ram on all types...

or does dsl-x.x-initrd.iso stuff the entire thing in initrd,
whereas the regular dsl-x.x.iso puts only the startup in initrd,
with the rest loading afterwards from the knoppix file?

There is also a pxe extension, which turns the initrd edition into a pxe server.

Cool. Sounds like just the thing for a computer where I'd be booting DSL with the "toram" option.
