Tried out the new version today and noticed that when I booted with "knoppix restore" at the prompt, the backup.tar.gz file extracted to the root directory, and things I had saved from the home directory (/home/damnsmall) were in the root directory. Checking /home/damnsmall/filetool.lst, I noticed that full paths were given to all items, whereas before things in the home directory didn't need a full path.

So, I was forced to extract my old backup.tar.gz, copy everything to the correct directories, modify my current filetool.lst to include full paths, and then run backup from the fluxbox menu. After that, things started working again.

This is just a heads up to anyone who uses a USB drive and is preparing to upgrade.

Yes, I found that out too. filetool.lst needs full paths.

Also, were you using wvdial before? If you are online with DSL, then the new
dialer setup must have worked for you. It didn't for me, and I had to add wvdial
from 0.5.3.1 and put it here, in my filetool.lst, shown here:
---
/home/damnsmall/.fluxbox
/home/damnsmall/.xtdesktop
/home/damnsmall/.xinitrc
/opt/xsetup
/opt/ppp
/home/damnsmall/.blackboxrc
/home/damnsmall/.dillo
/home/damnsmall/.links
/opt/MozillaFirebird
/home/damnsmall/.phoenix
/home/damnsmall/web.html
/home/damnsmall/web_files
/home/damnsmall/upload
/home/damnsmall/kreon
/etc/wvdial.conf
/ramdisk/usr/bin/wvdialconf
/ramdisk/usr/bin/wvdial
/ramdisk/usr/bin/wvdial.conf

This was explained in the "how to upgrade thread as well as in the "Getting Started" . I will repost here.

The files in the filetool.lst for backup/restore in 0.6 needs a full path. That is why some of your files from 0.5.+ did not restore properly. In 0.6 there is now a bootlocal in the opt directory. It is for misc systems commands that may need to be restored before there are any users. So the backup/restore is no longer only for a user, but for system. It is documented in the "Getting Started" section.
