I am going to try & send for the full CD the first of August. I am running Win98SE & won't give it up. I'm a power-user in DOS & most windows. I wanted to know if I could install from the CD to my second partition on my main drive (hda5)? Then set up lilo for a bootmanager to multi-boot. I want my 98SE, XP & at least one copy of Linux. Will I be able to do that from the CD?? Thanks for any help.  ???

yes!!

In fact I have my laptop "rednecked" triple boot...

Here is my setup
hda1 [fat32] 60 megs (Knoppix dir for frugal boot with floppy)
hda2 [NTFS] 5 gigs (Win2000) partition
hda3 [ext3] 5 gigs (Fedora Core 1) partition

my system has grub that dual boots fedora and windows
if i want to play with dsl I just pop in a boot floppy and pow

three operating systems but it only shows 2...

Now, with the changes made to 0.7.3,
my grub loader works with DSL just fine...

I was using grub to boot pre 0.7.1, but when I
switched to 0.7.2, grub gave me issues..

All is much better now..  Problem solved..

I think he was asking about lilo. Since version 0.6.x DSL version of lilo has been able to dual boot with win98 and/or winXP. Prior versions 0.5.x would only support win98. I have one machine with a full hard drive install of DSL using lilo that is part of the installation and it dual boots with winXP. I personally don't have a machine with triple boot.

'sounds like a great idea, how did you set up the boot floppy?  Most boot imgs are 1.4megs and I can only get my floppy to accept 1.38!

Thanks

Sounds like you've got a floppy with a few bad sectors in it.

Try a new, fresh floppy.. 1440k should be no problem with a fresh floppy.

Tomsrtbt formats and copies over 1770 to the floppy disk
when your making his distro boot floppy..

I've got an old utility from Win95 days called GRDuw, made by GRSoft. I got it off my old ISP (www.lctn.com) in their utilities. I just checked & they don't have it anymore. It reformats a regular floppy to hold 1.66M. I will try that other program & see if it works better.

I am going to try one more time to make a DSL CD. I messed it up the first time, but I am using a RW CD that I can rerecord on. I don't have a cd burner, so step-father is letting me use his dsl hook-up & cd burner. The DSL image is still in my folder on his computer. I figured I booboo the first round. Let you know next week how it goes. Thanks.

:D  I did some digging & found it at this address at winsite: < http://www.winsite.com/bin/Info?500000011914 > . It's a little crude, but works pretty good.

Why do that

rawwritewin will burn an image of the floppy...and the boot floppy is already in the cd iso...

if you want a copy of rawwritewin to to < http://uranus.it.swin.edu.au/~jn/linux/rawwrite.htm >
