I was able to successfully build the nvidia accelerated graphics drivers
to work with the kernel in DSL 0.8.2 .

By installing the /usr/src from knoppix 5-17-2004, and installing the
binutils, the NVidia*.sh did indeed build a server for use with this kernel.

Installing the xserver-xfree86 package, and editing the files suggested
elsewhere in the forums did get me a somewhat working xfree86 environment.

But either I got a root env. that was the 1280x1024 I wanted, but no fluxbox ..
Or, I got the horrible 4 bit 4 color 640x480 as user dsl , WITH fluxbox..
I understand howto edit my XF86Config-4 to run the NVidia graphics server.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong to NOT get a 1280x1024 fluxbox env as user dsl ?
Once I beat that challenge, I should get accel graphics in DSL using XFree86..
Then Q3,  UT2K4, etc.. should be available with decent framerates..

Thoughts?

Kent -

I can't help you on this specifically but I would love to know what the disk usage is with xfree and nvidia once you get it working.

Good luck!!

To ke4nt1:

I would like to help you...I have same goal.

Can you send me your builded nvidia drivers and xfree?
I would test it and (hope for it) improve it.

Thanx Johny
