same as every release of dsl. RSNWIR.Real Soon Now, When It's Ready. Remember that John has a "real" job and responsibilities. if you want him to start doing this full time, go buy something from the store ^_^. anyways, be patient. when it's done, he'll put it up. -J.P. My guess is this week.Mainly because the new DSL 8.0 Compressed ISO extension files are already sitting on the main download server. Should be a few days. Who knows, maybe even in a few hours. Posted by mpie on Aug. 24 2004,07:07

Is Kernel 2.6 included used in v8.0..if so, then a remote should work right out of the box, that unless john decides to destroy that part

what do you mean "remote"? Remote control for TV Card?

no a remote that works like a mouse. ATI make a remote wonder USB RF remote that works like a mouse. The only problem is, that you need to either install LIRC (which you need the kernel source for) or if you have kernel 2.6 it is built right into it. There are ways to manually install it, but it is beyond what a Linux noob like me can follow. (2+ years experience with Linux and i am still a noob. Now thats an operating system) If you want to see what the remote looks like do a google search for it... Once i figure out how to make it work on DSL i will post the EXACT steps needed to make it work. I just hope v8.0 comes out with the full 2.6 kernel with the Remote support, it will make life 200 times easier. Posted by huyvo on Sep. 15 2004,01:19
well, you dont need lirc. All you need is ati_remote.o. whati did was compiling ati_remote.o using the 2.4.22 kernel source linked to /usr/src/linux. [you haved to hack version.h to say 2.4.22-fx ] insert the module with: insmod ati_remote.o. after that you will be able use the remote as a mouse. To use the letter keys, just insert the kbd.o module. |
