Thx for dsl , first up to date distro that runs great (from hd)A bit hard for a newbie like me , but i'll read some mans and hopefully manage to configure it fully to my likes !! it looks like it's gonna take some time to configure this one as a hd-linux (cause startuproutines are designed for live cd) but in default install it's already faster than most linuxes i tried . big thumbs up for DSL !! Quick resumé : Toshiba 320CDT (P1200Mhz/96MB ram/CD+floppy/max 800x600 /Xircom credicard modem/lan / YamahaOPLSA3 sound) Everything works exept sound , sndconfig crashes on my laptop , For locales I had to change default langue in auto config file to be after i did hd install Posted by SaidinUnleashed on Oct. 22 2004,14:47
Welcome to the Revolution!oh, and sndcardconfig crashes for everyone, from what I understand. Don't use it. Your laptop is about half again as fast as mine. I know I brag on it alot, but it's cool makin atticware usable again. -J.P. Posted by Luke1011 on Oct. 22 2004,18:14
i figured i'd just tag on to this thread so as not to add more clutter...yes dsl is great for older hardware. it's making my pII 350, 256MB seem fast. i'm a complete linux newbie but so far dsl has made it very simple to get up and running. i look forward to learning more. thanks for a great distro! DSL can tell that it is running from a HD install and I think it is customized to it. So I don't think you'll have to worry. Anyhow... Welcome to the revolution!~Me P.S. If you need any help with the HD install script, feel free to ask Posted by Multichill on Oct. 22 2004,23:17
