Here is a screenie of something similar to OSX ..
I still need to work on the fonts, but progress being made, no doubt..

I work with macs on occasion..
This would feel somewhat homey..

Kent, if you can somehow transform the entire fluxbox and GTK/FLUA themes into OSX likeness, I'll lick your internet shoes.
Posted by l0st on Nov. 02 2004,12:59
Oh and a piece of advice - the bar at the bottom will NOT look good unless it has OSX-ish buttons, so I suggest you scratch that.

Hey Kent,

This looks good. I really like the rounded corners.

Once I have the fonts set, and the buttons/themes right,
I'll package it up as an extension ..

I think I'll work with this fontpack for now ..

Here another shot at 1024x768 ..

Not so big as the last one..
I normally run at 1280x1024 .. :)

And the last one is just to show the nice scroll bars and buttons in firefox ..
The animated download % bar is also a very cool motion-striped blue ..
Need to grab that one as well ...  just for a peek ..

ke4nt1, that looks GREAT.  Can you tell us how you did it?  I mean, it doesn't look like the fluxbox and Gimp I'm used to.  Very nice work.

Hey ke4nt, as that using the standard fluxbox or the "development" download?  Or has .8.3 updated fluxbox to use the rounded corners, pixmaps, etc?
I've always like the brushed-aluminium look...

Hmmm... what about the slit and the fluxbox bar?  Is there something new in .8.3 (haven't gotten around to getting it yet), or are you using some different stuff here?

clacker, RE: The GIMP, I'd say you're used to 1.2.whatever, version2 has changed the interface a bit - pretty sure it's 2.0 used in the screenshots.

Kent,

Are you using Fluxbox 9.9 here? It is supposed to do the rounded edges thingy, but I havn't figure out how just yet. Are you still working on this? Oh, why don't we make Fluxbox 9.9 the stock WM? Too big maybe.

Yes folks, it is the fluxbox-0.9.9.tar.gz from the repository.
There is a 0.10.x available now..  ( maybe SOMEONE will upload it :) )

The development version is still buggy,
It's not ready to be a replacement for the stable version in DSL.

But it is an easy install, and fun to use.

I still am working on more "eye candy" for this theme.

The "slit" is the GKrellM monitor, simply placed over the slit.
I miss having the mount app , which is not included in the GKrellM.

And the fluxbox taskbar w/ icons on it is how the 0.9.9 version is by default.

I have it as a .dsl backup file called 'mymacliketheme.dsl' for now,
( like my 'myfonts.dsl' ,  'allthemes.dsl' ,  'myxtdesktop.dsl' , etc.. )

As I make changes, I recreate the .dsl file for next time.

Have you tried launching "gkrellm -w" ?
This should load it into the slit, where you can also keep your mount app.

Ke4nt Just love the osX look.
Keep with the eye candy as I'll want to download it :)

Posted by Tux5 on Nov. 24 2004,13:15
Looks great! Can we download the .dsl from anywhere?
Posted by ico2 on Nov. 24 2004,16:40
when it does come out it will probably be a .tar.gz
Posted by hasty on Nov. 28 2004,15:42
C'mon Ke4nt stop twiddling those dials and wrap it up
Posted by ico2 on Nov. 28 2004,17:37
be patient :)
Posted by hasty on Nov. 30 2004,18:10
Be patient? Bah Humbug.
Hasty by name & nature
I bet he's off twiddling his dials when he should be working :)

Considering last week's "short holiday week" , I've got more
twiddlin' and tweakin' to do here at the office than I can see past..
The influx of new music and masters is at a peak..

It's good to be busy, in these times where many folks aren't ,
but I'd like to see some daylight here soon!   :)

Actually , I'm awaiting the latest fluxbox.tar.gz to arrive here,
so I only have to rebuild it ONCE , at least for a little while ..

Speaking of which...
...guess what arrived in MY inbox today..  :)

This week, I only needed to verify my P.I.N. ,
account/routing numbers , and Name
to my local friendly banking institution's request page..

They've "updated" their software, and if I don't HURRY ! ,
I might lose access to all my piles of cash !  :(
