If you decide to do a hard drive install, you will be asked to set the root password. I don't believe there is a way to alter the root password when booting from CD, USB key, Zip, etc. Cappy Posted by roberts on Nov. 06 2004,21:15
There was a bug in 0.8.0 and fixed in 0.8.1. You can change passwords on liveCD or compressed type installs with a newer versions. Posted by Jamel on Nov. 06 2004,21:33

still nobody know the default root password ? Because I'm in place where there is no burner and I need to use the Root function ... Thanks a lot Posted by roberts on Nov. 06 2004,23:18
root is covered in the FAQ:< http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/faq.html#root > Also, you have from the main menu: Xshells->Root Access Also, you don't need to have a burner to boot from the latest version of DSL. If you can download the latest version to a hard drive, just the iso, then boot from 0.8.0 with the command bootfrom Say for example you downloaded 0.8.3 to /dev/hda1 Then upon booting your current cd do this: boot: dsl bootfrom=/dev/hda1/dsl-0.8.3.iso Posted by Jamel on Nov. 07 2004,12:12
