I would like to put internet on my DSL, but I need a root acces to install usb modem drivers ... However, when i type "sudo su" it workd
But when I use command "sudo passwd root" to activate a password for a root acces, i can enter the password and confirm but it tell me exactly this :
Code Sample
passwd: An error occurred updating the password file

By the way, DSL is impressive for a 50 mb live distrib, It turn very well on a 233mhz 6years old computer..;

Thx for your help every body

Bye bye =)

If you decide to do a hard drive install, you will be asked to set the root password.

I don't believe there is a way to alter the root password when booting from CD, USB key, Zip, etc.

There was a bug in 0.8.0 and fixed in 0.8.1.
You can change passwords on liveCD or compressed type installs with a newer versions.

root is covered in the FAQ:
< http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/faq.html#root >

Also, you have from the main menu:
Xshells->Root Access

Also, you don't need to have a burner to boot from the latest version of DSL.
If you  can download the latest version to a hard drive, just the iso, then boot from 0.8.0 with the command bootfrom

Say for example you downloaded 0.8.3 to /dev/hda1
Then upon booting your current cd do this:

boot: dsl bootfrom=/dev/hda1/dsl-0.8.3.iso
