Are you referring to the dsl-embedded release?
Sounds like it
DSL should use the connection from your 2K box...if it has internet connection the embedded release should have it as well

Unfortunately, DSL didn't hijack the DHCP information that my Windows box had.  I tried to manually set it to what Windows had for a configuration and that didn't go anywhere either.

I have some very keen interest in the embedded version...hopefully this gets resolved quickly.

Cheers,

What does your dsl-windows.bat file have in it?

I haven't modified anything so it is stock:

REM Start qemu on windows.
@ECHO OFF

START qemu.exe -L . -m 128 -hda harddisk -cdrom dsl.iso -boot d -enable-audio -user-net -localtime

CLS
EXIT

Let me know if I need to change the -user-net option.

It is getting 10.0.2.15 - as it is using the -user-net option from the .bat file.  I think the tunnel thing is right.  Though...I don't think that is a good option - but one that is forced by QEMU.  I'll let you know if I figure it out.

< QEMU Documentation on Network >

They show how you can boot Linux to use the local network with the tunnel.  Like I said I will post my results...

I havent touched my .bat file. It looks like kitian's. My ifoncifg output gives me an inet addre of 10.0.2.15.
Any clue of what to do?

the 10.0.2.15 is correct.
the host os will act as a bridge.

can you ping your host at its real lan ip (from the embeded dsl)?
can you ping other computers on the real lan (from the embeded dsl)?
is your internet connect though a proxy server?

I can ping my host.  Does this mean the host needs to be setup to route the 10.x address?

I've been looking at coLinux, just briefly as I am now interested in this sort of "embedded" solution - and I notice they use a TAP-Win32 adapter that gets installed for the sake of coLinux.  Might this be a solution for DSL-Embedded as well?

i use dsl-embeded inside w2k.
the only thing i did was extract the zip and double click dsl-windows.bat
my network shows only one connection, the one i already had.

can you ping other computers on the real lan ( from windows and from dsl)?

Posted by kitian on Nov. 10 2004,14:57
nope can't see anything else but the host.  can you?
Posted by henk1955 on Nov. 10 2004,15:18
i can ping all computers on the real lan.
i can browse using glinks.
and after adding xchat.tar.gz connect to the irc.freenode.net#damnsmalllinux

does your host run internet-sharing software or a firewall?

Posted by kitian on Nov. 10 2004,15:43
no internet sharing software, or firewalls.  the host is getting its ip info from DHCP.  wonder if that has something to do with it.  have you changed anything in the .bat file?
Posted by henk1955 on Nov. 10 2004,15:50
no
i get ip, dns. gateway. wins. for host from dhcp to
