Siag Office. A very welcome addition. Great job, guys!!Chris Posted by Delboy on Nov. 10 2004,22:48
SIAG: I loaded the old .dsl extension a month ago but didn't really use it. I was hoping to get a WP programme which would let you cut and paste properly. In Ted after your first cut and paste, a second one would copy two bits of text, the next C&P operation would leave 4 copies and so on exponentially - not good. Unfortunately, in 'Pathetic Writer' I cannot cut-and-paste or copy-and-paste at all - nothing but a loud beep! Has this been tested and fixed for the DSL V.084 integrated version of Siag?

Cut and paste works fine in PW. I was using it for spell-check from the CD earlier to post here.

centrino wireless (ipw2100 drivers) is still not working, firmware missing.I tried using winiso to insert the firmware but cant find the dir structure I tried to remaster by hd-install but Xserver crashed on reboot. doesnt look like there are any centrino users here, I have been waiting for almost a year. Yes 0.84 is super! But not Siag, looks as if I have got the cut-and-paste problem too as did Delboy

Hmm. I'm not able to copy and paste or cut and paste in PW either - just beeps in error when I try to paste from menu or toolbar. Same when run from CD (with or without "toram") on 2 PCs, one with 384MB RAM, also on system w/ 0.8.4 installed to HD. Posted by SaidinUnleashed on Nov. 12 2004,18:41
firmware is not GLP'd, so it can never be in DSL. Blame Intel for that. if you have an hd install, you can download the correct version of the firmware into the appropriate place, and it will (sort of) work. Remember that the ipw2100 project is still beta, and that DSL have a very old version, so it's kinda wonky. Honestly, its a lot easier to go pick up a cheap Netgear card, because it works better. Oh, I'm gonna add this question to the FAQ. -J.P. Posted by Delboy on Nov. 12 2004,20:05
Have just tried Siag PW on the live CD of v0.84 for the first time. The same problem with cutting/copying & pasting occurs here as with the old extension (see previous post). Back to v0.83 for the time being. Oh the other thing, the table function in Ted was really useful - let me edit my work files in .rtf with tables. Siag PW does not have tables.

Is there anyway I can install the firmware myself via mydsl ? dsl is 'almost' perfect. Posted by zmef420 on Nov. 13 2004,23:32
Just got 8.3 working with a MS MN-510 wifi adapter with a HD install on an old P2, awesome. Guess i'll have to get 8.4 now.smilies own Posted by AwPhuch on Nov. 14 2004,10:14

Siag copy and paste...This is a bug with Siag, I've tried it on several distributions. I've also compiled the very latest sources of Siag and its dependencies, and the bug is still there. Ther X clipboard functionality *is* working though, so at least we have that.. Posted by SaidinUnleashed on Nov. 14 2004,19:28
and, even with the bug Siag >>> Ted + ABSHands down. And it's so nice to have speel chack! Posted by cbagger01 on Nov. 14 2004,20:26
So I guess this means that the temporary solution for copy/paste is:Highlight the text that you wish to copy by holding down the left mouse button and dragging across the desired text. Then let go of the mouse button. To paste your text, click on the middle mouse button in the spot where you wish to paste your text. The middle mouse button is usually also your scroll wheel (the wheel itself is also a button). If you only have 2 buttons and no wheel, click on both buttons at the same time and your mouse will pretend that you have clicked the "middle" button. Hope this helps. Sounds workable but not for my notebook touchpad - no combination of clicking, holding 'click' bar down whilst highlighting with pad etc. will do the job. Shame - I do see thebasic functional and GUI superiority of PW. but without cut and paste it is of no use for someone who uses DSL almost exclusively for word processing (+ e-mail and browsing). delboy, may i sugges Abiword.dsl?
Posted by Delboy on Nov. 14 2004,22:34
I also use Abiword.dsl but have found, like one or two others in the forum, that it crashes quite a lot with bigger files - closing itself down completely each time, either working in word or converted .rtf file formats - TED is much more stable on this machine.
