Because I do lots of experiments with other linuxes I sometimes have to lose my dual boot in the master boot record. For this I need to generate a boot floppy to reenter in the partition containing DSL. mkboot /dev/fd0 does not seem to work any more. It comes with "writing: /temp/boot453/vmlinuz. No space left on device" I have put linux24 in /vmlinuz before. The generated disk only contains . and .. , nothing else. Of course I can use the oldboot-0.8.0.img put on a floppy, but that does not restore the current issue. In any case I then have the possibiltiy to reinstall the dual boot with lilo . This whole procedure is clumsy. Is boot-0.8.0.img not a bit behind the present 8.4 state ? What can be done? Other question: how do I get the proper parameters in a loadlin, executed from Dos. Can't help you with LILO, but I do know that a number of posts have been entered that help with loadlin configuration.Try searching the forums for keyword "loadlin", search ALL FORUMS, FROM THE BEGINNINNG or NEWER. Good Luck. Posted by SaidinUnleashed on Nov. 25 2004,06:06
or, if you still have a M$ OS that's NT based, you can teach ntldr to boot linux.< Check it out > its what I'm using currently. Easier to set up, and more reliable than Lilo. -J.P. Posted by ico2 on Nov. 25 2004,09:26
