Slax is a 200Meg disto. Imagine what dsl can do with 200meg!!
hmm how about having 4 dsl versions to cover everyone's need
50Meg (business card size) - for comp savvy minimalist, ie ppl who knows what they are doing
200Meg (3.5" disk)- for ppl who just graduated from usoft, who think they know what they are doing
700Meg (5.25" disk) - people who want to be free from usoft but not sure how
4200Meg (5.25" DVD) - people who want everything, but dont know what they really want

should be easy to maintain since mydsl is modular

there is ico yes, cant imagine what is crammed on there altogether as the cd contains quite a bit anyway?

cooooooooooooooool.

not that anyone could use all that software but nonetheless cooooooooooool.

Posted by mpie on Dec. 20 2004,15:49
then again in that space you could put dsl the full repository and many source balls to compile!!!!!

Here it is: < Knoppix DVD Version > .

But seriously guys, why do we need knoppix, dsl is better. They dont listen, stuck with Konqueror browser for years, cant even open Yahoo mail the last time I checked, mozila is slow as snail. they refuse to use firefox.. such arogance?

Posted by subarus on Dec. 20 2004,16:12
forget Knoppix, they STILL dont have firefox in DVD version (4200meg), unbelievable. dsl has it in 50meg version, go figure

Hehe..they never get away from the "Linux off a 50MB bootable business card CD"...which is waaay cool

Slimmed KNOPPIX will never equal the DSL distro, just cause they dont listen to the requests of the users..they just pump out generic stamped releases because modifying anything would be just too hard!!!!

Debian is not the only Linux distribution that is available as a Live CD....
ummmm no its not, in fact < http://www.linux4all.de/ > has been hard at work developing a Redhat/Fedora based distro (which could incidentally become the Redhat version of KNOPPIX)

Keeping DSL at a hard 50MB limit forces its contributors to weigh the pros/cons of every byte that goes into it.  The result is a leaner, faster, yet still fully functional (and IMHO better) distro.

You can always roll your own remaster.
