I was wonderin' if it would be possible to customize the Control Panel and add in another service.  I recently got big into VNC, and found myself a lovely little downloadable VNC server / viewer combo app (1.5M compressed, probably not worth it for DSL).  Anyway, I was wondering if there was a way to modify the control panel so that those of us who download other services can add them into it.

Just a thought (I'm gonna post this in the Apps board too)

I should probably mention that I did an HD install on my PIII 1000 machine, 512 ram, 2BG HD (yes, only 2G - the 160GB died).

The control panel is done in Perl, so if you know any then you might want to take a look at the code.

If I were one who knew perl, that would probably help a lot, wouldn't it ?  But as I don't, maybe someone could help me come up with a way of adding the start-stop feature to this new service ?  Or even just a walkthrough of it ?

A little off-topic, but is the control panel in anyway related to YAST? I knew for a fact it was GPL'ed some time ago. BEsides the icon for it has the SUSE chameleon :)

Umm.... the icon for the control panel looks like just a crossed wrench and hammer, with a circle-thingy in the middle (which doesn't resemble anything like a gecko in my opinion).

You see the eye? That's exactly the same eye in there.
