It has been a while since i started experimenting with Linux. (started with Suse, then redhat mandrake lycoris.............and the list goes on)
I searched for a distro that could match MsWindows in compatability, and "easy" of use. I didn't wanted to learn script or go back to the command prompt.

So none of the distro's really excited me..(they all had some nice features but none of them really had it all...) And then there was the fact that i still had to do my banking/tax/administration electronically so Linux had to be able to do that too for me. (but it didn't). From time to time i work with a live-cd or a multi-boot but in the end i ended up with deleting the linux-partition to gain space for my windows-system.

So what was up with all these stories about how cool/fast/great linux was in comparisson with Microsoft? I didn't inderstand it then but i do know. Know that i am scripting (a little bit) and am adding to my linux-system "by hand". DSL forced me to take it one step at the time and gave me a system which i could take with me from one PC to an other (home <---> work). That's when i started learning more then i had ever before. (and no danger to my system at home with all the important administration-data AND no danger to the DSL-system itself because it is a compressed/protected file-system, made a mistake? rm backup.tar.gz OR restore an old one...)

So in my opinion Linux is great because it forces the lazy to read the fu^&ing manual and makes you start from "scratch".

Thanks to all you guys out there i am finally learning Linux and hope to be able to scrap Microsoft one day.....
