AA Fonts in DSLForum: User Feedback Topic: AA Fonts in DSL started by: Lodovik Posted by Lodovik on Jan. 23 2005,18:43
First, I must say that I really love DSL! Great job! I confess that I am (was?) a Windows die-hard since I work as a computer tech. I found DSL because I was interested in a small Linux distro that I could boot off a CD for rescue purposes... I incorporated DSL on my super-duper custom boot CD in wich I have only the most essential apps. After using DSL for a while, I am becoming more comfortable with it. Just one thing I would like: since I have an LCD display, anti-aliased fonts would be great if not indispensable. Is there a way to activate AA fonts or a DSL package that would to the job? Maybe a config file hidden somewhere?

DSL as it currently exists has no AA fonts whatsoever, space restraints, ya know, but I think that you can use apt to grab them from Debian. And I think you will need Xfree as well. Not really sure, and I haven't personally felt any need to look into it anyway, since the AA fonts fad is fading.-J.P. Posted by RoGuE_StreaK on Jan. 24 2005,07:20
Slightly OT, but is there a "simple" way to get TTF fonts added in DSL? Ideally, some way you could just simlink them from your windows/fonts dir if the machine you are booting on has windows installed? Saving the need to duplicate them in both systems?
