Im fairly new to linux and completely new to these forums. I've had DSL installed on my toshiba (portege 660cdt) several times in the past, but I've always had issues with it that would prompt a reinstall. I put some time in on it tonight and Im very happy (and proud) to announce I have it configured and working perfectly. The sound was very tricky to get working, I had to dpkg many files from debian to get my opl3 chipset working, but now I have it playing mp3s in xmms.
Sadly, I'll need to keep XP on a partition on my desktop (its just to bad not everything can work in linux) but debian will be installed soon. I know that I really have no point for posting this other than to let everyone know how great it is to be running a completely free operating system. And I hope I can learn more to contribute to the community. Ohh, and one last thing...how can I set a background on this thing? (I have whitebox, but the background never stays when I reboot.)
