I've been CD booting Knoppix on MS Windows HD boot partition boxes for some time without incident, and I just tried to do the same with the latest version of DSL, and it still went right to Windows, but I throw the Knoppix CD in, and Knoppix boots fine.

I'm making the DSL CDs the indentical way I make the Knoppix CDs (download the ISO, burn the ISO to CD), but for some reason I can't get the BIOS to recognize that the DSL CDs are bootable, but the BIOS has no problems with the Knoppix CDs.

Ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Joe

New knoppix, or old knoppix?

Knoppix 3.7 (2004-12-08).

Solved it.  Every CD that I made didn't work because the source ISO was bad.  Interestingly enough, it wrote files to the CD, but the file \boot\isolinux\isolinux.cfg was corrupt.

Re-downloaded the ISO from another site, and it works.

Obviously I need to verify my MD5 checksums with a bit more regularity.

Thanks!

I'll make a note of that...
I've had a few that would boot on one box, but not on another. Not DSL, those work just fine. I just downloaded the 0.9.3 syslinux version, burned it, booted, and now am posting this, all in 10 minutes. Have a cable modem, so the download is about 5 min, and I have the rest down pat so it goes real quick. Hat's off to the DSL team, it's really very nice.
