First: sorry for my English. I'm not a English naturally spoken.Yestarday evening I read about DSL and this morning I have lauched it. I'm not sure but I think that DSL is the better Live Distro onto Linux background. After my first DSL's day I have those problems: 1) I can't mount Samba share into LAN. I can view that via smbclient.lua, but if I do: mount -t smbsf //windows/share /my/dir/ -o username=User, password=Password DSL said: mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on //REGIA/dati, or too many mounted file systems smbfs is supported by DSL? name, usr and pwd about my share are correct! 2) Monitor resolutions are wrong! On 1024x768x16/24 my monitor freeze! I must use 800x600x24/32. I have a normal 17" monitor. How can I set frequency monitor? 3) How can I install APT? and have a normally Debian Distro? 4) Haw can I customize my DSL, with name and logos about my work activities? Thx for your trouble. See you soon! Posted by cbagger01 on Mar. 09 2005,23:08
1.) You need to download and install the samba.dsl extension. I prefer the "smbmount" command but "mount -t smbfs" should also work.2.) Boot with command "dsl vga=normal xsetup" and then choose XVesa server and pick your resolution and color depth. Or boot with "fb800x600" instead of the normal boot command. 3.) Choose "Enable Apt" from the Fluxbox Menu (Right Click) 4.) Read the documentation and search the forums. Search for a keyword and then choose ALL FORUMS and FROM THE BEGINNING or NEWER. |
