Hi all,
i hv been using DSL 0.7 up till last week, then, i downloaded 1.0RC1. Everything runs smoothly on any pc, but i seem to hv a problem mounting my pendrive, it's happened on 3 p.c's so far.

I hv checked dmesg, the pendrive is detected as normal. but when i tried to do mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/myfolder, it says /dev/sda1 is not a valid block device.

I have received some pointers from ke4nt, but it's not working either.
I have tried mounting in fc1, mdk10.0, all worked well. Did something go wrong with my  DSL cd ? It's not possible, izzit?

Anyone???

as root run "fdisk -l". This will show you all availible disks and partitions. Does your sda1 show up? Or has it changed to something else?

combine the fdisk info with "df -h" and you can see what drives/partitions the system know about and IF they are mounted. Note, swap is labled but not "mounted".

As a general note, you may want to check this thumb drive out carefully. I have seen them go bad rather quickly at times. (not that it has happened to you now)

Did you try clearing out all partitions, and rebuilding the partition table?

The last thing i remembered, i saw something like usb on proc...... can't remember, but will get back to this. Sorry for the late reply, i got stuck with my some other work. Have temporarily reverted back to 0.7.......... is there a better way to fix this?
But, my thanks to both of you for the quick reply. Hope to i can figure this out today......if my brains dont go numb.

Depending on what model is your pendrive, you may need to mount the entire /dev/sda/ ("mount /dev/sda/ /mnt/mypendrive" for instance) to mount the device properly. This seems to be partition issues. Try this before formatting you pendrive. It may work well. I had this problem on a fstab configuration of a workstation on my work.

Good luck,

glac.

I guess i would hv to agree. It's starting to act up even on my windoze. Probably time to get a new one. Speaking of which, why didnt i try plugging another pendrive into DSL ?
Ok, will try that first and get back to you guyz, thanks for the help, everyone !
