Hello all,

I am having some trouble working with synaptic.  I am trying to download perl and it simply replies with "perl not installed".  The synaptic message terminal says:

/usr/sbin/synaptic warning:  could not open IM
/usr/sbin/synaptic warning:  WINGS:  could not load widget images file:  could not open file

Are there additional dependies for perl or did I or synaptic do something wrong here?  Thanks in advance for your time and thought.

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum.  I assume you guys will switch it up or remove it or something.

I totally understand.

I have seen this error message many times and I don't think that it is the cause of your problems.

Try installing Perl.

If it won't install, you can try pointing your /etc/apt/sources.list over to "testing" or "unstable" and then apt-get update and then try again to install Perl.
