I love DSL. However, I don't like the website logo. Does anyone else think that the logo on the website should be redesigned? < http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/damnsmall.jpg > Posted by ke4nt1 on May 17 2005,15:17
That is actually a recent upgrade to what was there before.Give it time, as I'm sure there will be other contributions coming in the future.. As for now, I enjoy the fact that the time used by the small group at DSL is spent on DSL development, and not on eye-candy.. 73 ke4nt Posted by jesseakc on May 17 2005,16:29
Good point. Now that I think about it, I totally agree.

I like the website logo (though it takes a lot of space). As a matter of fact I like the whole website. It's definatily one of the better sites in my opinion.grtz Posted by davide on May 19 2005,10:00
the website could be much better, and the logo is definitively ugly.still, I appreciate it because it comes from the dsl community, it's a product of the dsl forum group. At the present DSl is becoming one of the most renewed distro in the linux world...you wouldn't tell, judging from the website. anyway..anything that goes is ok, for me... To my way of thinking, the website (logo) seems to capture the theme of DSL rather well. Like DSL, it's brief, to the point, and functional. As for the content, it remains one of the sites that I drop in on at least once a day. The amount of development, education, and support that goes on here is amazing! Bob Posted by laughing_gas on May 20 2005,03:35
It looks OK in Dillo, unlike a lot of other distro's sites.

Hi there!I like the website as is. I prefer that it's loading quickly than having to wait just to find a lot of eyecandy. Bear in mind that one of the purposes with DSL (as I understand it) is to bring to life old computers (like mine) that might be thrown away if it wasn't for distros like DSL. So, cutting to the chase, functionality before beauty. Have fun Y'all out there in cyberspace, meo Posted by clacker on May 20 2005,15:18
Does anyone else see firefox in dsl cutting off the letters at the bottom of the logo? It doesn't happen in Explorer, just with the firefox that comes with dsl.

No, not seeing it.

Hi clacker! To me it seems identical. No cut off letters. Sounds like a mystery. Have fun, meo Posted by namezk on May 23 2005,14:41
I support the minimal look, however, I certainly think this site needs some re-structuring, so instead of having to meander all over it to find an answer, there should clear categorical sections for each subject, ie: about, support, download.. etc, this is especially needed for the support section which can have organized sub-categories too..I understand that the effort is better used to work on the distro itself, but as popular as dsl is getting, easily accessible help and documentation can only be a good thing. thanks. Here's some artwork for the homepage, forum and a possible biz-card sleeve cover. It's in my usual minimal/ugly style (which is based on DSL screenshots ) All located here -> < DSL - artwork > Cheers rob Posted by sega01 on May 30 2005,15:46

I don't know a whole lot about DSL and how it works. I just know it works and I love it. I would like to help in one of the only ways I know how. I would like to help with the website design and layout. There are a few fundamental things I would like to change. I might be able to make the graphics look a little better and maybe a small file size. I would organize the links a little better. namezk wrote:
I agree with namezk. When I first started coming here, I found some nice things on the website. Then I forgot how to get there. Some of the pages really require some digging. Who can I talk to about helping out with this? I think a professional image is the only thing DSL is lacking in order to get some strong support in the Linux community. Thanks, Jesse |
