ok where im downloading it from it gives me three options per version - .iso, .ism, and .md5. I only need to download and burn the .iso right?

All you need to burn a CD of DSL is the iso file, but you want to get the md5 file as well. You use the md5 to make sure your download worked properly.

In 4 successful burns of DSL, I have never used an lsm file, but it appears to simply be an information file.

o well ty, i didnt use the md5 file but i burned it and all works well :D but ty for the help anyway :)

verify md5sum of downloaded *.iso file (or any other file prior to installation)before burning to disk w/ either md5summer ( www.md5summer.org ), or open terminal in linux and type in
