Hi,  I just got DSL working.  But all the colors are screwed up.  Its seems that other people have this problem too.  If you just search "colors" there are many posts about it.  But it seems nobody has solved this problem yet.  I have integrated Intel Extreme Graphics.

Also are there supposed to be icons on the screen when it firsts starts up.  If so, I have another problem.

HELP! :p

Update:

When I type in: fb1024x768 32bit, choose number five as the display setting, and run it at 24 bit the picture becomes clearer.  The desktop background shows, but the colors are still screwed up.

Two options:

1)

Exit Xwindows with CTL-ALT-BACKSPACE
Type xsetup.sh
Choose 1024x768x8bit
type:
nano /home/dsl/.xserverrc
add

-swaprgb

to the line after the X command

save and exit

type:

startx

2)

Install Xfree86.dsl extension and use the i810 server.

This works for me on some machines....

Right click the desktop.   Select SYSTEM...XVESA

A list of resolutions and color depths may be presented (you might just get an OK button). Click on one of the resolutions X color depth buttons. See if that helps your colors.

Good luck

Thanks guys for your replies.  I clicked system> xvesa.  There was only one option.  It was 640x480x16.  I clicked it and all the colors were normal.  Except every window was huge at that super low resolution.  I want to run it at 1024x768 at 32bit.  Any ideas?

Download and install the XFree86.dsl extension.

Ok I downloaded Xfree86.dsl  When I boot up DSL and it says looking for my DSL apps it finds xfree86.dsl.  But when I right click the desktop and look in mydsl its not there.  I know this sounds stupid but, how do I get it to work.

Good question.

I don't use xfree86.dsl, so someone else will need to help you out.

However, I would start by reading the *.info file on the mydsl repository download page and see if there are any instructions included inside the package like a README file or something.

I do know that it requires the user to edit configuration files, so it is not one of those click-n-run extensions.

Maybe the following thread can help: < http://damnsmalllinux.org/cgi-bin....;t=5426 >

I followed some guys steps and it seams to work.  I just need the Intel Extreme Graphics driver for Xfree86.  Can anybody give me a link?
Posted by metal_head_3767 on June 02 2005,20:24
Ok.  I got the driver from intel for Xfree86.  What do i do with it?  I know I copy it to /etc/X11  But where does it go after I just dump it on my thumb drive in windows?

Its been a few days without a response.

In this guy's guide he said this:

Quote
If you did not you will need to try another driver. If your driver is not listed You will need to search the web as I did. I did a google search for:
neomagic 128ZV XFree86 config The very first page on my search had my driver!

He also said what I should do with the driver when I get it:

Quote
Xfree installs a few drivers to:
/home/dsl/XFree86_config_files open Emelfm to browse for them. If your driver is there you are in like Flynn! You will need to rename your driver first to:
XF86Config-4
once you do that open terminal again if you closed it and type su and your password. then type:
chmod 777 /etc/X11
now go back to Emelfm get your driver on the left side by browsing for it Single click the file so it highlighted. Then on the Right side browse for /etc/X11 once you locate it hit the copy button to copy your driver to the folder. Close Emelfm.

So I downloaded the driver from intel for this.  I unziped it and inside of it were a few files.  I dont know what to do with them.
Some of them are: install.sh, pkginfo, i810_drv.o, i830_dri.so, libdri.a, libdrm.a, libpcidata.a, libscanpci.a, and agp.h.  Do any of these look like they are the driver?
