I have a running dsl installed to the hard drive. I want to get the monkey update that is is the latest DSL. I browsed the packagaes and can't find one for monkey. Where is it?

you'll probably have to download the new ISO and re-install. if you run a frugal install or LiveCD, that would be very easy.EDIT: Easy, meaning, with frugal or Live, there is no "re-install" Posted by pcause on June 08 2005,20:50
OK, but my problem is that I've set up a bunch of stuff and don't want to overwrite my installation. Not sure how to do this with DSL. Guess I could run from CD, mount the hard drive and copy over what I need.is there a way to do an "upgrade" if you've installed to disk? Posted by SaidinUnleashed on June 09 2005,00:53
Nope. That's why we prefer the use of the frugal install. Since the advent of persistant home and opt, even I have become a frugalite. Posted by pcause on June 09 2005,10:51
guess I'll have to read more on frugal install. Hadn't tried it since .9 or something and didn't see these options. Hope there is now something useful written about it now.

Great write up, but as I suspected, frigal won't be the solution for me. I've set things up and don't want to have to destroy what works. Also, since I've installed some non-DSL packages to the /etc, /usr/sbin, etc. not sire that if I use frugal I can recreate. Are certain parts of the filesystem tree marked as r/o in frugal.
