xvesa works , but xfb doesn't load--some modprobe problem.
I've tested this on 2 different computers--anyone else notice this?

this DSL v1.4 is a *big* improvement though...loadlin-install finally works
on my laptop. (so does f.b. X, ,actually)

though, I'm still wishing for math-emu in the kernel and a console version of DSL.(console w/ gpm, mc,gpg  and links-hacked)

Are you booting DSL with one of the 'fb' bootcodes?

fb640x480
fb800x600
fb1024x768

i.e " fb800x600 dsl toram xsetup"

yes.  the frame buffer X-server works  on my laptop(DSL v1.4), so it's not *totally* broken...

on both of the nonworking computers I get this  message when loading the kernel:
You passed an undefined mode number. press <RETURN> to see video modes available,...etc

Try booting with 'dsl vga=normal' and choose the xvesa server 800x600 16bit and hopefully that will get it for you.

'dsl vga=normal' +xvesa makes it work for me.  I've got normal colors now.

thanks,
